WVUSD continues to work closely to monitor the latest updates regarding the coronavirus and work closely with the Los Angeles County Department of Health (Public Health) to ensure the wellbeing of every student. In L.A. County, as in counties across the U.S., the threat to the general public for contracting coronavirus remains low. Below are revised health guidelines for schools from the Public Health Department.
Updated Guidelines for Schools
In response to new federal guidelines, the Public Health Department will exclude students under mandatory quarantine from school for 14 days from their last exposure. Last exposure is defined as having traveled in China’s Hubei Province or having been in contact with a confirmed case of the coronavirus.
Schools are not authorized to issue the mandatory quarantine; only the Public Health Department may do so.
Guidelines for WVUSD Students Under Mandatory and Self-Quarantine
Please know that the District is committed to maintaining the privacy of our students. Our schools will work with students and their families, who are under mandatory or self-quarantine, with sensitivity and confidentiality.
Students under mandatory quarantine, as issued by the Public Health Department, will need clearance to return to school. Schools will work with students to support their continued learning at home. Related absences will be excused.
Students who recently returned from other parts of China may choose to self-quarantine. Schools will work with students to support their continued learning at home. Related absences will be excused.
We thank you for your support as we keep our school communities healthy and safe.
