Diamond Bar Senior Wins Speech Competition

DIAMOND BAR, CA--Diamond Bar High School senior Nimisha Ganesh was named a winner of the 2011 High School Oratory Contest sponsored by the Association of California School Administrator’s (ACSA) Region XV on March 24.

Fourteen competitors from Walnut and Diamond Bar High Schools, and the Ron Hockwalt Academies participated in the District level competition held at Vejar Elementary School on February 24.

Nimisha won that competition, receiving a $100 scholarship and the opportunity to advance to represent the WVUSD at the ACSA Region XV Oratory Contest.

At the regional competition held at the Glendale Unified School District on March 24, Nimisha was among the six winners, out of 22 competitors.

Each regional winner received a $500 dollar scholarship.

In 3-minute speeches, students shared how others have inspired them to become the “Leaders for Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond!”

The six winners of the 2011 High School Student Oratory Contest will be the featured keynote speakers at the ACSA Spring Awards Banquet held at the Castaway Restaurant in Burbank on May 2.
