Two exceptionally creative students, Katharine Fan of South Pointe Middle School and Allison Tang of Suzanne Middle School were honored at the Walnut Valley Water District’s November 21, 2011, Board meeting for being selected winners in this year’s water conservation poster contest.

Their entries will be featured in the Metropolitan Water District’s 2012 “Water is Life” calendar.

Katharine and Allison were each presented with a framed copy of their poster art, courtesy of the District.

Along with District Board members, Scarlett P. Kwong, Allen L. Wu, Edwin M. Hilden, Barbara A. Carrera, and Theodore L. Ebenkamp, in attendance were Dr. Dean Conklin, Superintendent of the Walnut Valley Unified School District, Mrs. Susan Arzola, Principal of South Pointe Middle School, Katharine’s former teacher Mr. Trinidad Garcia, and Mr. Jon St. Amant, Allison’s former teacher at Suzanne Middle School, along with Katharine’s mother and Allison’s father.

Their artwork along with other young artists will be included in a regionally distributed calendar that encourages water awareness and promotes water conservation.

Congratulations Katharine and Allison on your winning poster art and efforts to help spread the message for water conservation!
