Happy Birthday Dr.Seuss!
Castle Rock Celebrates Read Across America

DIAMOND BAR, CA--Castle Rock Elementary School hosted a week of activities from February 27- March 2 celebrating the birthday of famed children’s author Dr. Seuss.

They joined thousands of schools across the nation in the National Education Association (NEA) Read Across America to share their love of reading in places large and small!

Students had fun decorating creative “thinking caps” on February 24.  They also donated about 150 donated books to a homeless shelter,

On Tuesday, February 28 they wore “readable” t-shirts,

On Wednesday, they donned their personalized “nifty noggin lids” and competed for prizes and their picture in the school yearbook.

On Thursday, first through fifth grade students had a reading reunion with their teacher from last year.

And on Friday, March 2, the school celebrated Dr. Seuss’ Birthday with “Pop the Top Reading” and their favorite Dr. Seuss book. Students brought a canned drink and a Dr. Seuss book to school for a relaxing school-wide activity. They got to pop the top of the drink and unwind with a good book!
