Chaparral Musicians Win Gold at Heritage Festival

DIAMOND BAR, CA--The Chaparral Middle School Sinfonia Orchestra participated in the Heritage National Music Festival held in San Francisco on April 13.

The 100+ member elite ensemble was among ten orchestras from four states that competed in the festival.

The Diamond Bar musicians are under the direction of Greg Rochford.

“This performance was the culmination of their dedication and hard work, and it paid off!” he said.

The Chaparral 8th grade musicians were awarded a Gold Rating (highest possible); an invitation to participate in the Festival of Gold 2014; the Adjudicator’s Award (earned by scoring above a 92); and the Most Outstanding Orchestra Award given to the highest scoring orchestra regardless of class.

For the second year in a row, our orchestra beat all of the high school orchestras!

Congratulations also to Chaparral’s Concertmaster Kevin Tsao was honored as an outstanding individual performer.
